Target scribe lines or other points of interest |
 |
|
|
The HP Series Hard Points are used in conjunction with our
BEX Series extension bars and various
SMR holders having 1/4" shafts. This type of
assembly (see photo below) is often used to locate and specify
various points using a sphere-fit routine*. The HP is
handy for targeting scribe lines, edges, or other points of
interest on surfaces or contours. It is especially
useful for measuring points which are obscured from view.
Using the HP with its targeting assembly to measure hidden
points allows you to avoid making additional tracker moves and
subsequent rebundles, thereby saving time and potential error
buildup. These adapters make more efficient use of your laser tracker
equipment while maintaining the accuracy needed for most
tasks.

The HP is available with an English or metric unit offset. It includes a 6-32 set screw at the bottom of the 1/4" hole
(see sketch at left). This is used to secure the HP to our BEX
extension bars. |

*A "sphere fit rod" assembly (above right) may be constructed from a BEX
bar extension, an SMR adapter, and an HP Hard Point. It is used to
measure a number of points which are all a given distance away from one
particular point of interest, making that point of interest
the center of an arbitrary sphere. Then, a sphere-fit
routine is commonly used to calculate that center point.
In the picture, the HP is centered on a scribe line.
