Like many of our level vials, the 3280 is a "coincidence" type, where both ends of the bubble are viewed simultaneously by using a mirror system.  This "split" bubble presentation ensures the most accurate reading of the position of the bubble.  2½ times magnification of the bubble enhances readability through the window in the end of the unit and permits leveling to within 1 arcsecond.  The back plate facilitates mounting to any instrument or other item which has the appropriate mounting characteristics.
