Our 271 tilt collimator provides two reticles ("near" and
infinity) for optical instrument testing and evaluation.
A top-mounted spirit level vial lets you set the collimator's reticle pattern in a plumb
orientation. The infinity target is graduated for angular
measurement estimations, with a resolution of 30 arcseconds and a range of
±30 arc minutes in two directions (see illustration
below, right). The paired-line "near" target allows
offset measurements when using instruments with micrometers. The steel
barrel is hardened and ground,
and meets A.I.A. specifications. Backlight illumination for the internal targets is supplied
by our model 508 low voltage
LED lamp and transformer (included). The 271 may be
mounted on bases such as our models
88-6 or
89, or used with a
spherical mounting
system or "V" blocks. Custom mounting hardware is
available on request.

The "near" target (left) has multiple
paired lines for easy location and registration.
The infinity target (right) is graduated for ±30
arc minutes of angular displacement. The photo below
right shows the 271's light source
connected for target backlighting.

Barrel: Barrel meets A.I.A. specifications with an outside
diameter of 2.2495" to 2.2498". Length is 11 1/8" (28.3 cm)
and overall instrument length is approximately 14" (35.5 cm).
Infinity target: Graduated in 30 arcsecond increments with
a range of ±30 arc minutes. Five arc minute graduations are numbered
for rapid reading. Two circles at 15 arc minute intervals
are concentric with the center of the target pattern. |
Displacement ("near") Target: Paired line pattern
with three spacings (0.008", 0.025" and
0.082") between the paired lines for use at all distances up to
100 feet. (A 0.092" radius circle target is also included.)
Case: Plastic with foam cushions.
Approximate weights: Instrument, including light
source, 18 lbs (8.2 kg); instrument and case, 24 lbs (10.9 kg); shipping, 26
lbs (11.8 kg). |
